Since 1 June 2026, a Salik crossing costs AED 6.30 at peak times (Monday to Saturday, 6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm) and AED 4.20 off-peak and on Sundays, including 5% VAT. Crossings between 1am and 6am are free every day.

Every time you drive under a Salik gate in Dubai, the toll is taken from your Salik account. The price depends only on the day and the time you pass the gate, not on the gate itself or the size of your car. Since 31 January 2025, Salik has used variable pricing, and since 1 June 2026, 5% VAT is added to each toll, as reported by The National.
So the sum is simple: count your crossings in each time band, multiply by the price for that band, and add them up. The calculator does exactly this for a typical week, then multiplies by the number of weeks you choose.
| When you cross | Price with VAT | Before VAT |
|---|---|---|
| Peak: Monday to Saturday, 6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm | AED 6.30 | AED 6 |
| Off-peak: Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 1am | AED 4.20 | AED 4 |
| Sunday, 6am to 1am (except public holidays and events) | AED 4.20 | AED 4 |
| Every day, 1am to 6am | Free | Free |
Say you live in Al Barsha and drive to an office in Deira, passing one Salik gate each way. You work Monday to Friday and leave at 8am and 5pm, so both trips fall in peak hours. On Saturday you do two errands at midday, two more on Saturday evening after 8pm, and on Sunday you cross twice to visit family. Late on Saturday night you also drive home from the airport at 2am, passing two gates.
That is AED 88.20 a week, or AED 352.80 over four weeks. Before VAT the same week would have cost AED 84.00, so the VAT adds AED 16.80 every four weeks. If you could leave home before 6am or after 10am, each of those peak trips would drop to AED 4.20 or less.
The VAT change is recent and was reported in the press before we could confirm it on Salik's own pages, so check the Salik variable pricing page if a price looks off.
Since 1 June 2026, Salik costs AED 6.30 per crossing at peak times and AED 4.20 off-peak and on Sundays, including 5% VAT. Before VAT, the prices are AED 6 and AED 4.
Salik is free every day from 1am to 6am. During Ramadan, the free window moves to 2am to 7am.
Peak hours are Monday to Saturday from 6am to 10am and from 4pm to 8pm. Sundays have no peak price, except on public holidays and during events.
No, not if you pass both the North and South gates in the same direction within one hour. That counts as one crossing.
You have 5 days to top up your account. If you do not, you get an AED 50 fine.
