Emirates Nature-WWF is a UAE environmental nonprofit that works in association with WWF. It was founded in 2001 and marked 25 years in 2025.

What they do

Its work covers nature and wildlife, climate action, the green economy, food and water security and getting the public involved. Public programmes include Leaders of Change, Connect With Nature, Earth Hour and Food For Life. Director General Laila Mostafa Abdullatif has been with the organisation since 2008.

Why it matters

Emirates Nature-WWF has mobilised more than 5,000 volunteers through citizen science, so residents collect real data for real conservation. Its decade-long marine turtle monitoring programme mapped the migration routes of turtles in the region. The National summed up its first 25 years as a journey “from mangroves to markets”, from protecting habitats to working with businesses on greener ways of doing things.

How to get involved

The Get Involved section on its site has routes for individuals, organisations, schools and government. You can sign up as a Leader of Change, join Connect With Nature activities, take part in Earth Hour or donate.
